Those words you wrote
truly came through
All these feelings are far too much
for you, I've never seen
or met, or felt your touch
I allowed myself to live
nestled in that fantasy
Even though I realize
it will never be
Your words struck me
my heart was off guard
You couldn't know me
how broken I am and scarred
Then I see your picture
the gentleness and blue eyes
I deserved so much better
I crumbled to realize
I fought valiantly each battle
I was tough and I was strong
being told I had no worth
you showed me that was wrong
This must be so strange
we've never even met
but, those important words
I'll keep and not forget
If only to remain
safely in that dream
with you by my side
and us as a team
I have to wake up
and cherish this gift
I'm so grateful to you
you made that fog lift
This beautiful new beginning
was written today
