Working at the biscuit factory

Spent our summers lying on the beach
In between working at the biscuit factory
Girls all around as far as we could see
In between working at the biscuit factory
Oh…those summers
We were in our teens
Ben Sherman shirts
Faded Levi jeans
Flower-power days
Plastic Ono Band
Honky Tonk Women
Ziggy played left hand
Spent our evenings crawling round the bars
In between working at the biscuit factory
Girls drank lager; boys drank ale from jars
In between working at the biscuit factory
Oh…those evenings
We were in our teens
Up the Bull’s Head
Late night disco scenes
At the Acapulco
Tamla Motown sounds
10 bob entrance fee
Drinks cost half-a-crown
But those days are long gone
The biscuit factory shut
Hundreds thrown out of work
By pin-striped suited men
And hordes of students
Home for summer break
Don’t know what they’re missing –
Don’t have what we had then
Spend their summers searching for a job
There’s no more working at the biscuit factory
And Barnsley girls don’t work there anymore
Nobody’s working at the biscuit factory

i don't know what to say! I'm completely bowled-over by your extremely generous comments which far exceed any I've received from anyone to date in respect of anything I've ever written. To know someone has experienced the same joy reading it as I had writing it is something I will always treasure. Thank you!
Well done , lovely read, lovely memories of a time gone by.
