WWI 100 th Anniversary
The one to end all other ones
When chivalry fell to industry
Where from the skies death rained
From Zeppelins and aero planes
When thousands died from chemicals
And many thousands more
Were ripped by flying shrapnel
No war was like this before
And no wars would ever
Be the same, hence forth

Thank you Kimmy Alan!!........for this most eloquently soft reminder.........I sometimes forget the significance of WW1..........the use of chemicals and the beginning aerial strategies and innovation........I think it's partially because there is so much in the media to remind us of WW2 and Vietnam and of course there are so few alive among us today to speak directly to that subject matter............thank you my friend..........well done............smiles............T xo
Thanks Tony. I believe we poets greatly under estimate poetry as an educational tool.
I'm one of those guys who has trouble remembering birthdays and anniversaries, but I do know that;
On 1492,
Columbus sailed the ocean blue.
