Yesterday

Dust devils frolic furrowed space,
Nostalgia sown on haggard face.
So many years spent working land,
Fragments slip wrinkled hand.
Forlorn buildings, crumbled dreams
Defiant tears flow in streams.
Kodak colors of memories past
Distance blurred remnants cast
Bowing head defeated,
Notions unkempt depleted
If only youth held on longer,
If only heβd been stronger.
βCome on pop itβs time to go.β
He calls back, βI know.β
Once these lands offered yield,
Abundance from stubborn field,
Wishes scatter like land's esteem,
Alas, old farmer's pipedream,
EphemeralnessΒ shall portray,
Relinquished to; yesterday.
