"You Can Make a Difference!"

A loved one's addiction,
never mentioned,
or spoke upon,
leads the addict to descend,
even further,
into all the drugs,
they think,
are their friends.

If you don't,
display your worry,
and that you really care,
tomorrow just think,
they might,
not be there,
on that same,
street corner,
flagging down cars,
for their fix,
and end up behind bars,
with a life,
spent chasing,
a permanent fix,
for their inner pain,
as they forfeit their brain,
and become all but sane.

Shouldn't you reach out,
extend a kind hand,
and help them,
out of addiction's quicksand?
Wouldn't you feel better knowing,
you really tried,
to tell them how,
their addiction lied,
to them,
and that there,
is a way out,
as you speak to them,
of God,
slowly removing their doubt?
You will notice a change,
slow in the making,
and you might,
almost make out,
their taking,
of God's Hand,
then rest easy,
smiling,
such a job well done,
and just think,
of the other addicts,
they'll tell,
of freedom through God,
from addiction,
all because of you!"
