You Decide

To remember pain
but to forget love
To forget happiness
but to remember sadness
Truth be told
only we can decide
On which feelings
we want to focus on
Truth be told
within our lifetime
We will experience
the good and bad
Without either
we could take
Our life for granted
and everyone
I choose optimism
it seems the best choice
Its much easier to be happy
when you try to rejoice

Nail - hammer- BANG💥 you've driven that nail straight home with this poem! When you are feeling down in the dumps you have to make a decision to look for positivity. I will say though — when you are very poorly going through a breakdown there is NO choice just a deep dark hole with slippery sides and you cannot stop yourself. However, there seems to come a time when you are well enough that it is possible to make a choice and choose. But you have to be well enough and the thing is with mental illness sometimes it doesn't let you get well enough. Good thought provoking poem x
I agree Tina, at times our troubles can be so overwhelming it can distract us from realizing we decide how to react and we may not be able to change what took place but we can be strong while going through it.
you hit the choice thing on point! I choose choice! I choose the family and The Savior as my foundation nice write Rob..............................Jim
Yes indeed , thanks for the validation, Im learning now that choices arent just made by convienence or money motivation. Its weighing on me to take a pay cut and quit traveling. In an effort to have some more structure in my life .
