You never had a chance

You never had a chance
You saw violence in the extremeĀ
Daily in your house safety was not about
Love was not dished out
ViolenceĀ was
It was always your fault
You were always scaredĀ
No one came to help you
They where scared too
Until it was your faultĀ
Until you scared them too
When they came to help you, you were already gone, gone down your violent ancestorol path
And now when you stand in the dock
Your face marked black, by ink
A frighted little boy in a mans rough, guarded exterior is all I see
All I see is shame on society
All I see is shame on me
Shame on me that right now there is another child being shaped as a violent offender just like you simply because of where they are bornĀ
Their father
Their mother
Screaming to the heavens
screaming for redemption, for a break, for a moment without this extensive rageĀ
Rage that was developed and engaged by decades before
Perhaps even from centuries of war
Colonisations forgotten tragediesĀ
Raining unmasked misdirected rage on loved ones that canāt get out of the invisible family cage until
sorry itās too late mate
your me too.Ā
Boo!

Very dark and chilling
It felt dark when I was writing it, but the case it is commenting on is really tough to read and got me to thinking about history and how it still very much affects the present.
Very dramatic and gritty. Well done
Thank you. I felt nervous about sharing one of my darker poems.
Another very strong write , well done Garth . Gritty but flows beautifully . Great work :)
Thank you for your comment. I have been hesitant to put my darker poems up. so it means a lot.
