You Saw Me

You Saw Me

I was so high yet at the same time so low
Why did you look at me but never saw me
Why did I fall for your ruthless jokes
You simply don’t know who I am
Nor will you ever know
I saw you the day everything ended
At last I did not look at you
I felt my broken heart,
You, I’m sure you felt nothing
That’s why it was so easy to leave me
I know now you’re here but I can’t shake this
This feeling of abandonment
Of sorrow
Never knew you the way you really were
It’s easy now to say you never loved me
Easy to say I hate you too
I was so confused and I know you felt the same
But here we are separate paths
Separate people
I looked at you but didn’t see you
It was a one in a million thing
You and I
I noticed that one school day
You saw me, regret in your eyes
Wanting to speak
Not being able to open your mouth
Your head fell and so did mine
It was all a mistake
I couldn’t handle the silence
I broke and you never knew
Stone cold and bruised skin
I almost left you
But I could never be so cruel
I destroyed my life
I was willing to give you whatever you wanted
I returned after a few weeks
I then signed my dreams away
I turned in the books
The locker
The one thing I had
I did it for you
I cried and I cried
I left the place I made a name for myself
Leaving you to live your own life
But somehow someway you were back
You were brought back to me
After you set me free
We were two broken hearts
We weren’t meant to leave
I welcomed you
I needed you back
At last I saw you
And you saw me
