You & Them: Past, Present and Future.

You & Them: Past, Present and Future.

I’ve taken everything and everyone for granted, I know.
I don’t count my blessings and shun attention.
And love, oh love?
I struggle with its burden, and even more, its retention.
But I do track my cursed, bad luck, (normally of my own making).
And I’m sure you can see but choose to ignore,
Beneath my smile I’m way past breaking.
I drink from a glass barely half full,
Consume food that my toil has earned.
Slept with people for the sake of,
But post climax, I never learned.
I Live to work, not work to live,
Though there was a time l lived by the hour,
Sampling the sweetest that life had to offer,
But that soon became passé, tasting sour.
I still write poems for the brokenhearted:
The unforgiving, the lost in every season.
Novellas for the narcissists, sonnets for the sinners,
And two-faced lovers who left without reason.
