Modification (Part3)

Modification (Part3)

She waited patiently, almost willing for the door to remain closed
The music was loud and she knew there was a chance
no one would hear the door bell. She reached for it again,
but became caught of guard when it suddenly swung open.
A tall rugged man stood behind it and looked just as stunned as she did.
He was shirtless and looked gorgeous. Her breath caught in
her throat as they held each others gaze. He was holding a drink and had a
smirk on his face. Embarrassed at the thought that he may find her amusing,
she quickly looked away. Eventually he stuck his hand out and introduced himself.
"Hi I'm Tate," Tori's brother. Addison became lost for words. She had no idea
that Tori had a brother, and handsome at that. Mortified by her stupidity,
she replied, "I'm Addison Riley," um-Tori and I attended the same collage
together, God she felt dumb, did she really think she could pull off this
conversation. Tate studied her quizzically for a moment and then replied,
"well well Tori is full of surprises isn't she?" He was puzzled that his sister
had never mentioned Addison before. He quickly took another
sip of whiskey as the ice lay melting in his glass. Finally he stepped aside
allowing Addison to squeeze past him. She noticed his musky smell immediately
as it lingered  from his body. Its essence sent a warmth through her, something
she'd never felt before.  She shrugged of the feeling as she followed him out into
the courtyard.

It wasn't long before she spotted Tori,
Her long ponytail was the biggest give away as it swung from side to side and
as usual she was playing the perfect host. She was remarkably sassy.
Addison stood waiting for Tate to make the grand announcement that she had
arrived, but somehow he had just disappeared amongst the crowd. Her confidence
began to dismantle. She realized that soon she was going to have to intrude on Tori's
conversation. She could imagine their chit-chat silently turning into a masquerade of
giggles as they demoralized her. She couldn't allow that to happen, not now and certainly
not in an ears shot of Tate, wherever he was. This upper class title just wasn't her thing and
right then and there she knew it was a mistake being there. Curiosity was going to make her
look like an idiot. Who was she to even think that she could blend into Tori's world. What
had seemed appealing at the time now shrouded over her like a black cloud. Addisons
biggest fear was about to become a reality.
