Rock Bottom - Pt. 2

Rock Bottom - Pt. 2

“Miss Grace?” Knock knock. “Miss Grace? It’s time for the awards.” Said another new assistant of her team. Eliza swore that she had a new member each week. Another hopeful. Another kid with their shot at showbiz.

“Come in, darling.” Eliza replied. The doorknob clicked and a small and slim girl with dark brown curly hair, which swooped down her left shoulder, walked in, wearing mandatory black clothing and a crew pass necklace. Her nametag showed, Valerie. Valerie’s expression was like a little child walking into the head teacher’s office.

“Be a sweetheart and zip this dress up will you, Valerie?” Eliza sighed, whilst taking a drag from her cigarette. Valerie nodded her head and walked over.

“Of course Miss Grace. It’s a beautiful gown” Valerie chimed, whilst zipping up the Chanel dress, which was a gift from the fashion brand. Eliza knew they saw her as free advertising, so did half the business industry. Nothing was ever given away for free in this field. Something always came out of it in the long run. The dress was gold, with the texture of an old leaf, lines rippled in and out of each other. It clung tightly to her body, covering her chest and neck as a halter neck. Her arms were left bare and her nails were painted black. Her platinum hair was tightly sleeked with hairspray curled into a top bun. The classic black flick for her eyes, traditional red lipstick with a hint of gold shimmer on the bottom lip.

“Mmm, it is something isn’t it?” Eliza breathed. “Do you smoke?” She offered one to Valerie. Valerie raised her hands and scrunched her nose.

“No, no, I’ve never smoked.” She giggled. Eliza turned around fully to face her crossing her arms and eyeing her up. Valerie was a very beautiful petite young lady; her features were well rounded and had exceptional cheekbones and full lips. There must be Cherokee heritage behind her. Valerie reminded Eliza of a full moon, in a red sky. So bewildering warm and magnificent. Her big brown eyes were so innocent and enchanting. Something Eliza had lost.

“There’s a first time for everything darling, come here.” Eliza stretched out her perfectly manicure hand. “It’s fun.” How could Valerie turn the famous star down a second time? She succumbed to peer pressure and sat beside her idol. Eliza handed her a king-sized Marlboro, she also lit it for her.

“All you have to do is breathe it in, but only in your mouth and then, breathe in a second time down your neck.” She explained, gesturing her hand down her own neck. Valerie did what she said and surprisingly didn’t cough, she smiled, quite proud of her first go. Went for another and coughed a tiny bit which made them both laugh. Eliza watched as Valerie laughed and all she saw was how she used to be. Bubbly, excitable and amazed by the world and what it had to offer. Where did it all go? Did it all wind up in this girl? Every bit of what made Eliza who she was, was now ready to rebirth in this beautiful girl?

“You know what’s really glamorous Val? It’s what all us actors and actresses do to give us a boost! It’s my magic dust.” Eliza flatly delivered with a straight face but a crooked smile. She walked over to her black desk and opened a draw, inside was a shiny silver hand held mirror with extravagant detail on the back, she opened it up with a click and pulled out a vile of white powder. Put down the mirror and walked over to Valerie. She assessed Valerie and her face was white. She looked quite nervous. Eliza smiled and touched her shoulder.

“Sweetie, it’s what all the famous people are doing. You should feel privileged to get a small taste of what I do. It will make you feel like there isn’t a limit; you can do whatever you want. Talk about whatever you want and you can have as much as you want. Hold out your hand.” Eliza gently pulled Valerie’s hand closer and tilted it so her thumb was facing upwards. Eliza tinkled a small line of cocaine on Valerie’s hand across her thumb.

“It’s new, brought in from, some country. It’s meant to give you the biggest buzz imaginable.” She didn’t have to explain to her what to do, she knew. Eliza turned away back to the black desk and perched on the cushion chair beside it. She poured the rest of the cocaine from the vile on the table and racked it up with her long nails. She also pulled out a small tube from the back of the mirror and inhaled the rest of the drug, leaning her head backwards and sniffing once she had finished. Almost instantly a rush of tidal waves hit her in the head like a punch in her face. This was definitely something else. She almost felt dizzy but in a good way. She giggled.

“Woo!” She thumped the table as she squealed. She packed everything away and noticed Valerie was still trying to sniff the last few bumps.

“We’ve got an awards show to catch sweetie, you better wipe your nose.” Eliza said whilst fiddling with finishing touches on her hair and makeup. Valerie stood there looking at her with wide eyes like she’s just come off a roller coaster. They both looked at each other and shared a moment of loss. Eliza had lost her way. Valerie had lost hope without her knowing. Little did she know Eliza had successfully ruined her. Once you’ve had a taste of it, there’s no going back.

“Let this be our little secret Valerie.” Eliza whispered smiling.

Eliza grabbed her diamante purse and chucked a few things in like lipstick and more cocaine. She never needed money; drinks were always lined up for her. She was the first to walk to the door, straightening her dress as she did and walked out into the hallway, Valerie was shortly behind her, mumbling some words into a walky-talky she carried. The front of house crew were rushing about all over the place, carrying schedules or things celebrities had requested. Several doors down she noticed her fellow rival in showbiz Felicity Moore had just left her room. Felicity was a one trick pony in Eliza’s eyes, only capable of swooning on camera and fluttering her eyelids. But sadly it worked out for her. Eliza caught up with and placed her hand of Felicity’s skinny shoulder.

“Good luck Felicity, I have to say you look ravishing in your Louis Faketon, I mean, Vuitton, how silly of me.” She sarcastically but softly interrupted. Giving Felicity her famous sparkling smile whilst walking faster and more glamorous.

“Oh bite me Grace.” Felicity scorned.

“With pleasure sweetie.” Eliza raised her melodic voice. “Just let me know when.” Valerie giggled behind her. Eliza continued walking at pace when suddenly a flush of heat went through her body.

“Oh, it’s a bit hot in here sweetheart, can you get the maintenance guy to turn the heat down?” Eliza huffed. Whilst using her hand as a fan.

“Yes you’re right, I’ll see what I can do.” Valerie jogged off in a different direction to Eliza. Eliza noticed there was a bar at the end of the hallway and went there to greet old faces and have a cooler. She bumped into the host of the awards.

“Miss Grace, a pleasure to meet you so early, I’m Michael Gambon.” He kissed her hand like a gentleman. She noticed he had a ring on his left hand. Her eyes lit with fire.

“Quite. How about a drink?” She flirted, eyes following his suit buttons down to his crotch and back up again. He was tall, dark and delicious. The aged lines on his face worked in his favour. He was divine, every bit a trophy husband. She had only ever heard of his name, never seen him in person. If she’d had known, she’d of whipped him up before his marriage. But that wouldn’t stop her. “Sir, we’ll have two scotch on the rocks please.” She ushered.

“Why thank you Miss Grace. I have to say I am a great admirer of your work. Absolutely flawless performances thus far.” Michael smiled, almost embarrassed to tell her a compliment. Eliza looked down smiling, her most famous position on screen and looked up at him again. Squinting her eyes ever so slightly just to give a seductive stare and placed her hand on his shoulder and replied.

“How sweet, I do work very hard for the outcome. What was your favourite film?” She asked cheekily stroking his arm downwards before collecting the drinks for both her and Michael. “Bottoms up.” She seductively whispered and they both shot the scotch. Michaels face screwed up in a ball for a second but Eliza didn’t flinch, it had become her favourite flavour.

“Well, I very much enjoyed ‘A Diamonds Best Friend’. Outstanding script and visual directing you were born for the camera. One of my favourite films of all time, I’m not just saying it either because you’re here. It’s honest truth.” He enthused. She smiled again looking straight in his eyes.

“I actually have the original script from the film in my room if you want to have look? It even has scribbles from the late director himself.” She softened her expression. “I think you’d very much like to see it, come with me.” She whispered taking his hand and pulling him back to the direction of her room.

“We only have 20 minutes till the awards Miss Gray, can it wait till after?” He asked. Slightly panicked, looking at his wristwatch.

“We have all the time in the world darling.” She hushed. Out of nowhere Valerie popped round a corner waiting for Eliza. Valerie looked a little faint and pasty, but was still working hard.

“Miss Grace, we need to have you seated in 10 minutes.” Valerie rushed, jotting notes down on her paper and listening to her walky-talky.

“Thank Val, I’ll be ready for you. I’m just showing Michael some scripts, wait here for me.” Eliza insisted. Valerie nodded and starting hissing down the walky-talky to a guy name Brad who was ‘giving her shit’. They reached her room and they both entered, she noticed Valerie had cleaned up her room ready for her arrival later in the evening. Flowers had been laid out on the sofa, and the room had been scented with lavender. She lead Michael into the room and locked the door behind her and faced him, his back was turned to her as he took a good look into the A-lister’s abode. He turned around to the sight of a movie star looking at him like prey. She was beautiful, he felt the tension in the room moulding around his body. She moved forward to him and locked each other lips passionately kissing him with a subtle bit of tongue. As soon as they touched, she felt she was attached forever. Her heart was in her mouth. How odd. She grabbed his waist and pulled him closer to her body. He was still in slight shock, but he wouldn’t stop her. He lifts her up in his arms, moving his lips down her neck and back up again.

He threw her onto the black desk and kissed the top of her breasts as she pulled his hair. She moaned and wrapped her legs around his body with her dress tugging slightly due to the pressure. He looked at her and she had a wild expression, she grabbed his left hand and pulled it to her face. As she lay on the desk she sucked his wedded finger before slowly taking the whole finger in her mouth and bit down gently just below the ring and slid the ring slowly off his finger. Once she did, she held it in her teeth with a snarl and flung it across the room to then kissed him harder on the lips, moaning with pleasure. She felt her way down his stomach to his belt and began to unhook it; he assisted her with the belt and then ruffled her dress up for them to shortly make love. Eliza had never felt so enticed by a man before and never had she been pleasured this way. She thought she could see in his eyes he felt exactly the same way. They didn’t even need to kiss anymore; she thought they were connected through their souls. Each hard thrust caused a louder moan from the pair of them and exactly the same time they both climaxed and became breathless.

He rested his head on her breast as they caught their breath. She looked up to the ceiling with the moving fan and thought about what just happened. For the first time in a long time, she felt an emotion deep inside her. Almost like something was waking up, a feeling that was lost. She looked at Michael and it happened again, something inside her jumped up and down for a second. He finally stood up zipping his trousers up and tucked in his white shirt. He looked at his watch and raised his eyebrows.

“Hate to say it, but you have 5 minutes. Sorry and not sorry that I didn’t keep you longer.” He chuckled with his charming smile. She sat up and straightened her dress, not a hair came out of place, only a slight smudge of lipstick, which was an easy fix. She stood in front of him, lifted her finger to his chin, flicked up gently and whispered.

“Kill ‘em sweetie.” He kissed her on the lips again and again and one more time before he rushed out the room to begin introducing the awards. She turned to face the mirror and fixed her makeup. She smiled at herself. All in a matter of minutes she felt relieved by herself. Something inside of her had let go finally. Eliza reached into her purse and took out the small bag of cocaine, she felt like she deserved an extra long line for the pleasant mood she was in. She racket up a heavy line, admittedly, the biggest line she’s attempted. And got her little tube and forcefully breathed in the line, only reaching half way before finishing the rest off. Once she had completed the stealth line, her head felt like it was rising and rising. Like a hot air balloon floating higher and higher. She made her way to the awards, greeting Valerie, who had so loyally waited for her. Valerie gave her the plan for the evening, showing her what awards were before hers. Eliza had been nominated for Best Female Actress, the most gratifying award for a professional bitch.

Eliza eventually made her way to her seat on the front row; she was sat next to her manager and the co-leading star in her most recent film, his name was Montgomery Frankard and quite frankly he was an arrogant so and so. She had never seen eye to eye with him during filming and she made it incredibly difficult for them to work together. But she used all that negativity and transformed it into her acting, making him look like a beginner, even though he was backed with years of acting. He had not been nominated for one award.

The lights dimmed and the show began.
