The Selfless Man

On a warm summer day a man was walking up a hill to get a drink from a very special pond situated at the top when he noticed an old man behind him who looked very weak. The young man said to the weak old man, "Drink and you will be strong".

The next day a weak woman and child came up to the pond and the man said, "Drink and you will be strong". Every day people came to drink the water and the whole town was strong except for the man who told the people to drink.
The man was so weak but there was no more water.

He felt so sad and weak when all of a sudden a bright light fell from the sky. A woman with long, wavy hair and a white flowing dress spoke to the weak man, "Why are you so sad"? The man replied, "I let the towns people have a drink to get strong but the water is all gone now and there's none left for me to get strong".

"But you are a strong, young man", said the woman. The man had a puzzled look on his face and asked, "But how"? The woman smiled at him and said, "You let everyone else drink the water before you. You are strong because you are not selfish".
The man smiled and as he did, he felt stronger than before. The newly strong man asked, "Wait, before you go, may I ask who you are"? The woman smiled again at him and said, "I am you guardian angel". She turned back into a bright light and disappeared. The man smiled as a single tear ran drown his cheek and said "Thank you".
