96 Hearts

96 Hearts

A blow of the whistle, cheers from the crowd
Both sides,  happy and proud
Everyone wants to win, the usual banter but fun,
Cheering from afar, no harm done

Just one wrong doing changes a life
That one decision caused utter fear and strife
Loved ones stuck, nothing you could do
All thatcher could think about, how to blame you

Fathers, sisters, children, friends
It wasn’t the game that came to an end
The loss of life and a nation in mourning
Why did this happen, the reality daunting

They went to a game, that didn’t end
They never got to win, who was meant to defend
Blamed for their own loss, lies on top
From robbing our own, it had to stop

On top of grief and sorrow they tried to place blame
With 96 silenced,  what a scary game
To play with people’s hearts as there lives come to a halt
Of losing someone so precious,  then say it’s your fault

We will love you forever, the truth is known
We fought your corner, the world was shown
That love will win,  now in our hearts is your home
96 angels, you will never walk alone
