A Molded Memory

She is know for her past
One that will haunt her
In this town; forever an outcast
She prays for the future
Not once did she try to forgive herself
For it can't be undone
To escape the pain stored on her shelfΒ
She views it as fiction
People talk and judge
Not knowing it all
Always holding a grudge
It's so pitiful
The weather outside woke her; shivering
From a dream full of fears
Her eyes red, her lips quivering
Her pillow wet with tears
She dream't of times long ago
She was young, he was too
They never though what would follow
A drunken time with only two
He never called, she never stopped
Parents gone, she's all alone
She started to grow, for it was real
What could she do, she thought she knew
'Till this day, she wakes the same
Every morning is cold and gray
Through her dreams she relives her shame
That on that day she did not obey
Her heart that told her to pray
To let her baby stay

Hey DOMINICK!!...... this is a VERY compelling and impressive narrative write..... I'm not sure, but it sounds like she has done something to her child...,.,and every night she is haunted by her dreams...... you really did a nice job with imagery .....I felt like I was there as I read but remained a little confused about the 'real' story!!.... regardless, well conceived and well delivered poetic prose brother poet!!.....,ALL STARS!!........ well done....... and.... Hi Tony!
Β Β Thanks for your kind words. I like to write in a way that allows the reader to interpret my poems. This helps me to reach a wider audience. Some people may assume that the girl in this poem had an abortion while others might assume she gave it up for adoption. Thanks again?
