A Most Sinful Halloween

A Most Sinful Halloween

Let me spin you a yarn my dear Grandpa told to me,
that happened many years ago
one frightful Halloween.

Their wickedness is world renowned; we know them all too well,
they wanted to go trick ‘r’ treat—
The Seven Sins from Hell.

Sloth rose up, he groaned, then whined, “Do we have to go?
It’s cozy here, there’s ice cold beer,
and Gluttony moves too slow.”

The glutton licked his lips and spoke–his mouth stuffed full of food,
“I’ll have you know I want to go;
that candy corn’s sooooooooooo good!”

“The both of you can stay right here, that just means more for us.
Yum, Reese cups and M&Ms…”
Quick out the door ran Lust.

“Oh , no you don’t!” Greed screamed at Lust, “I’m comin’ with you too.”
She bragged she’d grab the biggest bag,
(it’s what the greedy do.)

“They're all much scarier than I,” Envy screamed, stomping her feet.
“I hate them all, I hope they fall—
lie bleeding in the street!”

Wrath bared his fangs, angry with anticipation.
His eyes glowed red, “Stay here, you’re dead,”
he fumed with indignation.

It’s been said the tiny town was never quite the same.
In full moonlight on Witches' Night
they spread their sinful shame.

Goblins, monsters, witches too, were frightened by the sight
the year the Seven Deadly Sins
came out on Beggar’s Night.
