A MOTHER TO THE MOTHERLESS

A MOTHER TO THE MOTHERLESS

From the atmosphere of heaven

The angels over heard a prayer

A woman's heart was breaking

Life had seemed unfair

You see, all she ever wanted

Was a child to love and hold

She couldn't help but feel the loss

Like she'd been left out in the cold

She felt that life had no purpose

As she struggled to go on

With her heart broken, arms empty

And her dreams dashed and gone

Looking up to heaven, pleading

Her face stained with tears

She tried to not feel punished

As she had for many years

She prayed to accept her fate

She tried not to be depressed

And though she couldn't understand

She tried to believe it was for the best

The angels couldn't give to her

What her heart was longing for

But she felt their strength and comfort

As she never has before

Now she waits for that day in heaven

When she meets the children, she never had

For now, she'll be a mother to the motherless

And try hard to not feel bad

Thank you so much for your encouragement. Reading what other people think, gives me a glimpse and insight as to what my poetry says and if I'm expressing it. Sometimes I get trapped into telling and reporting, instead of expressing and showing. Thanks again!
