A Note To Self

Into the streams which hold your self-esteemĀ
I clean and gleamĀ
Those dusty beamsĀ
So you may see the reflectionĀ
Which begs attentionĀ
Yet too scared to mention
Because of all the blightĀ
Infection from lifeĀ
That caused you strifeĀ
You feel so brokenĀ
Words left unspoken
Sit in rubbleĀ
From all the trouble-
That fellĀ
Bringing with itĀ
Your own personal hell
In which you dwellĀ
Hide within your broken shellĀ
Well... here I standĀ
With open handsĀ
I offer all I have to giveĀ
In hopeĀ
You see
There is still enough lightĀ
To take a chance on lifeĀ
Dreams donāt have to reside in the mind
Just offer your heartĀ
Some peace
Be kindĀ
Self worth brings fortuneĀ
More priceless than any jewel
Bleeds out the cruelĀ
Live life as the foolĀ
And you will always reapĀ
An ever abundant knowledge from the deepĀ
Just listen to your own wordsĀ
The ones behind the fearĀ
Hold them closeĀ
All will become clearĀ
Now take these polished beams Iāve cleanedĀ
And have a good look at your self-esteemĀ

Loved it. The metaphors, the flow on some of the verses. Well done!
Many thanks for stopping by and reading this one. So grateful of your feedback :)
Lovely verse Gwen, from the darkness comes light, I hope the sun shines as brilliantly as it can for the whole world.

ā¤ļø hugs lovely. Going to pm you soon xxĀ
An inspiring and great write that offers hope to one and all Gwen.
Hope that almost forgotten uplifting virtue, but not after reading your equally uplifting poem.
And I like what you did with the words, your words,' Be kind'.
A wee bit bolder to stand out and shine brighter to add to your poem of inner self esteem and focus.
A little subliminal to register in a reader's mind and get your message over a little more.
Full honours and poetry kudos to you Gwen and I wish you well and thank you for writing and sharing your inspiring poem of hope.ā¤ļø

This could very easily be made into a rap song .. a good one at that and whilst not my favourite musical genre the words themselves and consequently the message they collectively convey have a resounding inspirational quality and impact upon the reader .. and whilst I can not speak for anyone else, that is the magic I personally found here today ............................................................. Wow a rap? Gosh I wonder how that would sound. I often feel rap is very poetic just to a crazy beat š A compliment my friend and so thank you so very much, and once again thank for looking back on my poetry. You are a truly kind humanĀ

although it may seem somewhat contentious, I think Bob Dylan was probably one of the very earliest rappers with songs like Subterranean Homesick Blues .. and tho' not a fan of Rap, I am of Dylan .. and yes, absolutely, my comment was intended as a compliment ..Ā
