A Painful Bliss

She arrives
As the last scarlet page
Falls and leaves her poet's cage.
I watch her
Coming down the aisle,
Gracefully, elegantly, tenderly,
Clad in white,
Incandescently bright,
She crawls along this heavy hour
And devours
With insatiable thirst
Colors and sounds and dyes in haste.
My naked neck is bruised and blue,
My body numb, motionless.
For she bites
With her frosty lips.
I coil and curl, and close my eyes,
And give my being to
her arctic breath,
I am defenseless to her kiss,
To this
Birth in death,
To this painful bliss.
She is lovely, cold and bleak
And I have no promise to keep
Only want a lasting sleep
Amidst her timeless boundless deep.

This is a brilliant write...about death? That's how it reads to me...regardless, a fab write x
Hello Marion. Thanks for your comment. Yes, it is about death. Funny thing is that from the outset I wanted to write about winter and its beauties. But words propelled me toward what you can see.Ā
Yes...I can understand that, Words appear to have a life and will of their own in my experience lol...x
Hello Hossein, this is a vividly captured sensation on death. I just loved how you penned natures own cycle of this transition. Using winter, natureās crone, as the backdrop for the imagery that gives the reader that chill and eerie sustenance manifested in the birth of death itself. Truly a wonderful poem. A warm welcome to CosmoĀ
