Seduction of Normality - Spoken Word
Alone on the edge looking in
I paint the earth with words;
a muted palette of greys and blue
that skim the surface
echoing across the vast expanse.
The world it seems is diving with the fish
drunk on the ocean of hours
mesmerised by the waves of fear.
A seduction by the promise of eternal depth;
a depth that flat-lined in its own reflection.
But I, I wish to swim with the birds in the clouds
to become part of the silence
to take flight from the ashes of shattered dreams
with wings kissed by the suns first blush.
Where the voice of the breeze speaks to my soul;
the wind sensuously lifts me up in its soft embrace.
It is addictive to breathe the wild air and not drownΒ
in a blue lagoon of normality.
To sip champagne with the moon and watch
ivory silks dance in ebony seas.
To pity all those that can only dream in
colours stolen from the horizon...
I am that sky, that sunset; andΒ
that storm you can never catch.
And, although I feel your scorn andΒ
your unanswered eyes rips petals from my rose
I will taste happiness for a few fleeting moments
that will melt time on my lips.
While the world sinks into the inky abyss beneath
I'll wear your scattered pearls around my neck; and
write letters from stardust to post to the infinite sky.

This is really good. Such a way with words.Β
Thank you so much, very kind. xx
Beautiful and beautifully narrated. W. B. Yeats wished to own the heavens embroidered cloth. To dream of being those cloths is infinitely better. Wonderful work.

Thank you so kindly, Nigel. I appreciate your comment and for reading my work. xx
Caron if you go to my page I have added a spoken word track to This Ukelele Fights Fascist's. I wrote the piece in a Lancastrian accent but I don't know if I've pulled it off. I'd appreciate your opinion.
( I think I sound really old )
