A Thousand Seconds Gone by

A Thousand Seconds Gone by

When I think of my life I see traffic lights
A green light giving me the go ahead have faith and it will be okay
One red stopping me from making bad decisions that I can’t take back
One yellow that warns me from following a path to darkness
Not finding a way to come back
A thousand seconds gone by I can’t see in the dark
The road is unknown not safe but I take it anyway
Is it too late to turn back now the sign says dead end
Danger do not enter but I enter anyway
with only five seconds left too much to drink
The train is heading straight at me as I shake
A thousand seconds too late my last breath I might take
As my life passes me by I look up to the sky
I pray I won’t die and promise god I will change
The train wheels brake and I open my eyes to see a halo beam
A bright golden light of an angelic figure appeared in front of me
Not a thousand seconds too late
Praise be the lord he followed me today on that road to recovery where I was redeemed
with only two seconds remained
I bowed my head in rejoice I cried
Jesus saved me today the next chapter in my life is sobriety
