A VISION OF GRACE
WILLIAMSJI MAVELI POEM

A woman, a vision of grace, you stand,
Yet shadows cling, a chill upon the land.
Your children, precious burdens, at your side,
Their soft, unspoken fears you cannot hide.
The night descends, a velvet, heavy cloak,
And where to rest, a question you invoke.
A mother's beauty, etched in weary lines,
A silent strength where desperation twines.
Your children's hunger, a gnawing, hollow ache,
And where to find a meal, for goodness sake?
The sheep's worn path, a whispered, gentle plea,
A trail of hope, for you and progeny.
The shepherd's warmth, a fleeting, borrowed space,
Where tender goats may find a moment's grace.
Let the soft wool of the sheep,
and the warmth of the shepherd's fire,
be a temporary caress,
a moment of respite
in the harshness of the night.
