Poem -

Afraid to be Me

Weak, I am, for I do not gain, I do not conquer, I do not maintain

I putter, and putter, not  getting anywhere, though my talents are many

I feel that I am not strong, I am not wealthy enough to go on, afraid to be me

Singing my song, I have a voice to envy, my eyes are true blue, and my smile outstanding

I can pick up a pencil and sketch John Wayne from memory, the FBI would love me

I could catch the most wanted by description, my eyes so keen, maybe I am not human

Maybe, I am a hawk, lurking, sky flying, watching over for my prey, yet in the distance

I am afraid to be me
