Ain't no love.

Ain't no love in this part of the city,
neighbors a stranger, ain't that a pity,
echoing footsteps, there's something predatory,
slamming his drunken fists, now she's not so pretty.
Ain't no love in this part of town,
too much anger, people always down,
another tired mother having a breakdown,
husbands a cheat, she's wears a frown.
Ain't no love in the poor neighborhood,
shots ring out, they're covered in blood,
sad looking people, ain't looking too good,
damaged by abuse in their childhood.
Ain't no love when you look around,
scared people becoming housebound,
streets seem like a battleground,
orders are given for a crackdown.
Ain't no love in the suburbs,
tryin' to calm the nerves with the green herbs,
people getting nervous, easy to disturb,
can't meet the payments, kicked to the curb.
Ain't no love in my zip code,
homeless people seeking a safe abode,
people pass by with heads bowed,
tension all around, ready to explode.
Ain't no love in the tenement block,
when you hear a scream, not such a shock,
innocuous words can lead to deadly talk,
bodies outlined with sidewalk chalk.
Ain't no love in the gangs territory,
too much bravado looking for glory,
membership is a tattoo, its mandatory,
reading the ink will tell you a horror story.
Ain't no love on the reservation,
suffered genocide, once a proud nation,
forced to retreat to another location,
Hollywood gives a different narration.
The world is full of love and hate,
open your heart and release the weight,
what you do is always a choice,
celebrate love, let us rejoice.
