An Ode to Dylan Thomas

Dylan Thomas our welsh bard
of international fame,
Under Milk Wood one of his works.
gained critical acclaim.
It was called a play for voices
for the audience to hear,
it was broadcast on the radio,
and acted out in the theatre.
It was set in a village called llareggub
or (bugger all) backwards,
with peculiar people Captain Cat,
and Mrs Ogmore- Pritchard.
Next to his famous poem
"Do not go gentle into that good night"
which has no title, about the death of his father,
they say he did write.
He lived in his Boathouse in Laugharne
a place of idyllic views,
i have visited this place of beauty,
which has it`s own muse.
He was no angel though a riotous drunk
which he promoted
but still the archetypal, romantic,
poet,, writer. Quoted.
Sadly Dylan Thomas died at an early age
in New York City
such a sad loss, of a great wordsmith,
a real pity.
There again, he has his own day now,
the fourteenth of may,
where we can remember his works,
and homage we can pay,

YAY DEBS!!!!........I Love Dylan Thomas......... drank himself to death at age 39.........but left behind some of the greatest poetry ever written........." Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" is one of the poems that made me want to write as a young man......... this is a most excellent tribute to one of the greatest poets ever from Wales......... so cool that you got to visit that boathouse area....... had to be inspirational........ This is a truly impressive piece girlfriend............ALL STARS...... well done......... your cyber-friend and admirer.....T xo
HI Tony.... I like him too. i cant explain how beautiful the boathouse at laugharne is. Although small and sparsely furnished his desk and chair where he wrote looks out to stunning views, i found it eerily quiet aswell just ripples off the water as it is situated on the estuary of the river Taff . i`m so glad you liked it.
Thank you my friend

hi deborah, well done, in bringing Dylan Thomas to the spotlight, wow, this man was a true poet, honestly, the first name that comes to mind when I think of a poet, is Dylan Thomas, 'I see the boys of summer', one of his best works, I remember getting an assignment in art school on this poem, and hated having to read it over and over, back then, ended up writing a parody poem on it, mostly in protest and frustration, lol, but now with older eyes, it reads amazing; at some point I must've figured out what he was saying in that poem.... his work is unique and powerful, and nobody can try to write like Dylan Thomas, and come out alive, but I still see his work often replicated; the finest form of flattery... he was on a different level altogether, very distinct flow and syntax,....yes, sad indeed how he died, alcohol and some sort of lung infection? but I suppose he packed a full life, into a short one, still very tragic when a true artist passes....will check out his plays on youtube, thank you so much, deborah, for an ode to dylan thomas, enjoyed....cheers
Hi Christopher.... Thank you for reading.i love your story at school . I read that the 14th of May is international Dylan Thomas day and so thought it would be a fitting tribute to write an ode to him .glad you enjoyed
