Anchor

Before I thought the weight was lifted
I could feel it sinking in again.
Perhaps it shifted
But this time, so much deeper
To the point where it would become too much effort to retrieve again
& Let it detach from its chain this time
For the immense weight it cannot bare.
The darkness follows after a moment of light before sinking
When the sun reflects a single ray off the cast iron catastrophe & I start thinking,
Am I the anchor?
No, I'm the current that it was thrown in.
