Angelus Borealis

Angelus Borealis

for Lorna

A sun-shaft cleaves the parting teardrop clouds
Illumining those rain-stained copper wings
which lend protecting shade and gentle shroud
To starling, finch and less celestial things.
So haloed by corona of the Sun
Her wingspan-reach caresses distant shore
That feathered touch; more gently plays than one
so rudely bolted, cast and wrought of ore.
Yet Angels (even artful) cannot claim
a foothold on this living, artless bier
Those Sentinels ~ on wings of crafted flame ~
must crest the arc; or die at the nadir.
But as She scales the clouds ~ resplendent, free
My Northern Angel casts her shade on me.

[Painting of the "Angel of the North" by Lorna Caizley]

Reminds me of Bob Dylan's song, 'North Country Girl.'

Thanks.
I'm not especially familiar with Dylan, but I'll check it out.

My Dear Friend Jason,

Cast no aspersions on the omnipotence of a Jason Brown ode. Β

Nadir to Zenith times infinity.

He takes us from the bowels of Hell, to the Gates of Paradise.

With eloquent metaphor and flowering rhetoric.

We are reading "History In The Making".

Peace and Love, my Brother,

Larry xxx

But as She scales the clouds ~ resplendent, free
My Northern Angel casts her shade on me.

The freedom she has, makes me want to know her. Β I love this from beginning to end, J.
