Another fall day

The ringing of bells
The sweeping of brooms
She sits alone outside of the room
The class is all gone
Her friends went away
Four several more hours she’s forced to stay
The teachers don’t like her
All but one
He sits with her till her mother’s work is done
They talk about home
And talk about dreams
And in the future all the great things
He says she’s shy
She says she’s scared
Always wishing she wasn’t there
He ask her why
A crying reply
“Sometimes I wish I could just die”
The teacher is silent
His eyes on the girl
Now his mind is caught in a whirl
When her mother appears
He takes her aside
And tells her the things the girl tries to hide
The ringing of bells
The sweeping of brooms
She sits alone outside of the room
A bruise on her arm
And black on her eye
Trying her hardest not to cry
Her mother was angry
She can’t get away
She repeats in her head she wants to escape
The teacher sits down
Next to her books
And tries his hardest just not to look
His words they mean nothing
They just fade away
Another lost soul, another fall day
