Anxiety

Hello darkness my old friend
It seems you'll be here until the end
For even on our brightest day
You can't simply be kept at bay

I feel you crawl beneath my skin
It feels just like a gentle sin
The hollow ache inside my chest
That doesn't leave even at my best

It seems you know my every step
I feel as though I haven't slept
For even when you go away
I know you're always here to stay

My hands they shake
My bones they ache
While I fight in the dark
Its already left it's mark

I watch the world around me turn
While everything inside me burns
Everyone looks on as if I'm fine
While I simply walk the line

Anxiety is a cruel dark beast
It finds your fears and then it feasts
It makes you shutter to your soul
It wants to have you consumed whole

Sure you can try to keep it at bay
But what in turn will you have to pay
For a little bit of peace
Surly soon it will release the beast

But you don't fight it every day
You see it never turns your way
So how exactly do you say
You know the torment of the day

You see the smile that hides it all
But not the shudder when darkness falls
You see me act with grace and class
But you can't see it's a wise act

For it has been here all along
This time it just sings a new song
The darkness never leaves the light
Everyday it's the same fight
