As Time Goes By

As Time Goes By

Another year has passed now, it’s candle time again;
For today is another Birthday, each one I say “Amen”!
I’m feeling rather sentimental, about all the people I have lost;
Who were much younger then, than I am, my heart has paid a cost!

.
And I’ve started reading the Obituaries, a macabre thing to do;
When I see one premature I’ll say, “They were younger than are you”!
I need to cure this preoccupation, with the worry of my end;
Think about the years ahead of me, and decide how them to spend!

.
I guess this plan they call “The Bucket List”, is a good thing probably;
I just don’t like what they named it, sounds like “Kick The Bucket” to me!
I’m going to change the words a bit, and call it “Things To Do List”;
Which implies a long and healthy future, I hope you get my gist!

My Dear Sweet Rose,

Wow!  Talk about making someone's Birthday a happy one.

"I get your gist and I say it's sure going to be a very long healthy future filled with so much happiness and love love from all of us..."

You just gave this old man so much to look forward to.

All my love,

Happy Birthday.  I totally can relate to your words.  Even if we don't know our future, know that your poetry and comments have lit up many a person's day and gave them a smile or inspiration. So wishing you many more candles to light on your birthday cakes for the next coming years.

My Dear Shirley,

I thought there were a lot of candles on my Birthday Cake, but, if I lit one for each beautiful person I have met on Cosmo, they would far outnumber them.  Thank you for making my special day so lovely.

Hugs, Peace and Love,

indeed!  Happy b day Larry Ran, and yes 'the bucket list' does sound a bit dreary, lol....I agree, your “Things To Do List” sounds way more upbeat, and may you have as many years as your please to do each one....I once told my 84 year old friend, who often complains of 'aches and pains' that if I every made it to 84 I would stand naked in front of the mirror every morning and laugh my arse off; having made it that far.... maybe that is my to do list, making it to 84 and beyond....be well my friend, enjoy your 'to do list', I enjoyed your poem, cheers poet

My Dear Friend Chris,

I can't believe that you hit on one of my favorite pastimes, standing in front of the mirror naked.  Of course, when doing this, I pray that I am the only one laughing my "arse" off, and not my wife.  Can I ask how old you are Chris?  Thank you for your amusing anecdote, and for making my special day so beautiful.

Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
