Poem -

Ashley, My son

Ashley, My son

Ashley to me you are unique
Your personality strong
Yet confidence’ you continually seek
You feel that you have to impress
Which then gets you extremely stressed
I don’t know why you need,
to feel that way
As we have loved you and Chris
More than we could possibly say
You continually make us proud
When We see what you’ve both achieved
As parents we feel so relived
With the two perfect boys that we both conceived
Yet Sometimes you can be so hurtful
With the things that you sometimes say
We know that that’s not you
As you feel threatened
In some strange unusual way
I try my best, not to bite back
But unfortunately sometimes I fail
For that l must show my deepest regret
It’s not only you that feels that
pain
For me the hurt, feels just the same
When I upset the son that I love
Your special to me,
in ways,
that you will never see
Untill you have a child of your own
And  watched every day
 that they have grown
Then you will finally see
How much  you have really meant to your mother and me
You don’t need to be anything more
Than be the boy I will always adore

You seem to suffer from some miss conception
That you will never be quite good enough
Good enough for what I ask
There’s nothing you need to prove
I receive praise from every quarter,
almost every day
From people all around you
Who love your natural way
