Asylum

Asylum

If someone seeks asylum shouldn’t we be there?
To provide them with safety, show that we care.

When that person has risked everything to seek a new life
To be turned back to danger , terror and strife.

Not knowing where you’re going
Or if you will survive
Hunting for a home
Trying to stay alive.
Desperate for kindness, compassion, refuge
Fleeing an existence of fear and abuse.
Constantly searching for a life that is free
of fear and starvation , a cruel entity.

Who are we to turn our back?
We should hold out a hand
And welcome folk who need our help
to a life of fairness on this land.
