Ayahuascha
Every season for time untold,
I meet with a group of inquiring souls.
We join together in a ceremony,
Here I open the door to the inner me.
In the springtime when the flowers bloom,
We sit near a lake by the light of the moon.
The Shaman is drumming, the fire's ablaze,
Inside my mind, I watch visions play.
I journey through colours that swirl and twist,
I allow harsh thoughts whilst they persist,
For to arrive at where I desire to be,
Lost thoughts must be acknowledged and returned to me.
In the summertime when the nights are warm,
We curious souls lay upon the lawn,
The Shaman is chanting, the stars are prisms,
Inside my mind I live the visions.
I see my surroundings reduced to dots,
My will decides at which scene I'll stop.
I remove my attention from what I don't like,
Though I thank it for coming, it's now alright.
In the Autumn when the harvest is reaped,
Inquisitive souls in a glass house meet.
The Shaman leads an ecstatic dance,
Our eyes are closed, we're in a trance.
Inside my mind I hover in space,
Seeing the beings on earth as interlaced.
I can look through the eyes of any of them,
Upon a beam of light I can descend.
As I observe from above, these silver strands,
Reaching down to each woman and man,
I can experience reality from multiple views,
I can glimpse the past and the future too.
In the winter time when the air lacks heat,
We eager souls in a farmhouse meet.
The Shaman rhythmically plays his guitar,
We sing along, though we travel far.
Inside my mind I know of my health,
I can leave my body and look back at myself.
There is no separation, none at all.
In my revelation,
The One is All.

Hello SUZANNE!!..... wow! Is the first word that comes to mind..... but the second is YAY!!...... Yay that I have found another kindred spirit.....I have done psilocybin (mushroom) ceremonies with the Indians in the mountains of Oaxaca!!.....I have done the private peyote sessions in the desert.Β I have a friend who recently returned from Brazil where he participated in a group weekend retreat where the group participated in anΒ Ayauascha ceremony that lasted a few days...... he says it changed his life......I asked him if the experience was more spiritual than the psilocybin experience..... he said itΒ was the best experience of his entire life!!.... So I am not surprised by the amazing phrasing and honestΒ tone that you have crafted hereΒ in this VERY compelling poem!!Β Β When I did my ceremony with the Yaqui Indians it changed my life and set me on a course of discovery over many years..... in fact, I have written much of it in my blog on Metaphysics......I could go on and on here..... but for now, please Allow me just to say that I am looking forward to poems from you in the future.... you obviously have a firm grip on the English language..... this is a well conceived and BEAUTIFULLY delivered piece of poetic verse/prose!!...... Haux! I had my first and so far only meeting with Ayahuasca back in Jan. To see through many eyes is absolutely true! 100%. It has been one the 3 greatest highlights of my life! (other two are Ayyappa union at Shabrimala, and Ramadhan prayer on Mt Zion.)Β
