Band Of Gold

With a look at this band of gold. 
A heart to never know the cold. 
A life together was the story told. 
Wrinkled skin from getting old. 

As children they would play. 
Young teens nothing stood in their way. 
In the twenties the vowels they would say. 
Husband and wife never to stray. 

Dad worked hard as a Miner. 
Mom a waitress at the local dinner. 
Our clothes not of a designer. 
Life was hard no love was finer. 

Three children she did give. 
A boy two girls with a life to live. 
A better life for the kids did she sieve.  
A miners life her son to relive. 

Father and son covered with dust. 
A band of gold never to rust. 
Digging beneath the earths crust. 
Faith in god they did trust. 

With grand babies on the way. 
Decades passed like a day. 
Working with bills to pay. 
But never alone on life's highway. 

With faith and love astound. 
A life of happiness found. 
As her heart beats it's final sound. 
Laying next to him underneath the ground.
