Poem -

Barely Breathing

The sheet on your chest barely moves as I watch you for signs of life.
You've been in this hospital twenty one days, sixty years you've been my wife.
We vowed we would stay through thick and thin and till death would do us part.
The time has come to test those vows, but I'm not sure I can start.
I knew this day would come, when we would have to say goodbye.
I never figured I'd be the one, who was left to stay and cry.
Close your eyes my angel, spread your wings and finally be free.
Fly away to God and tell me what you see.
You're barely breathing now and I know you are on your way home.
I'm sure I'll you soon, I can't take this on my own.
