Through a Soldiers eyes

Through a Soldiers eyes

My eyes, though tired, watched the bombs land.
I was sitting on hill in my tank, thick with sand.
I began to wonder when it would end.
When I could go home and be with my friends.
We had lost many men to the battles we had fought.
Their screams of pain and death, filled my young thoughts.
The fear of dying is thick on my mind.
How can it not be in this place and time?
I gather my thoughts to fight once again.
Praying as I do for all of it to end.
