Behind the Trees

As a child we would play hide and seek
A fun game we thought until you were never found
See the orchard had many trees and now the leaves have fallen
It was a long time ago but no one would forgetĀ
The end of summer the beginning of autumnĀ
Where we would climb the tree and eat the forbidden fruit
The apples lay plenty we gathered them for granny to make her.pies
The story of little red riding hood was our favorite at bedtimeĀ
But in real life the child’s fairy tale story became real life
And so hide and seek is still a mystery maybe it was the big bad wolf
Or maybe the three little pigs squealing for their livesĀ
See I like to tell stories until along comes a giant spider
While I am drinking hot cider and the man in the moon shines down on the big bad wolf
While the pumpkin carved out face of the headless horseman
Whispers ghostly stories of ghosts and goblins behind the trees
