Poem -

Bittersweet

I could smell the scent of cigarettes on your breath Ā

Ā but I hung on like death in hopes that you would never leave again.
I felt the warmth from your body fill my heart with relief
only you were the eye contact made when nobody was listening
or so
I thought.
You fooled me and left my brain impregnated with your presence calledĀ
memories.
You stole my air and now I can't breathe without you;
It feels like drowning. You see,
I waited for you
but you craved new people when I thought you liked me too.
And now I just have to smile politely pretending it doesn't bother me.
I shall never be vulnerable again.
-the girl you left heartbroken
