Poem -

Britain Loves a Failure

A whole twelve months or more of pain
Not seen sunshine for a while,
Cannot see any tears in rain
My heart breaks when you smile.

Body is broken with the strain
Laugh as I do it to myself again,
Apologising for my behaviour
And they tell me Britain loves a failure.

It's been so long since I held you
That gentle twinkle to your eye,
The soft beauty of that valley view
My heart aches each time you cry.

Broken bodies can heal their sore
Though I will surely cut myself once more
Too late for you to be my saviour
And they tell me Britain loves a failure.
