Call Yourself A Mother
Keep on drinking and keep on flirting
Don't give a damn if your kids are hurting
Tonight you'll bring home yet another man
Supposed to be a Mum, I don't understand
Dad went away to earn money working in a mine
But you spend it on drugs and casks of cheap wine
Leave us hungry and thirsty, me and my brother
How can you call yourself a responsible mother?
We get ourselves off to school when we are able
Hard when there's no hot water or food on the table
Sometimes it's days on end that you actually stay away
You wonder why we don't wish you Happy Mothers Day
You should be thinking of your kids, not sleeping around
How can you be a decent Mother when you're so unsound
What an example you are, injecting crap into your arm
Won't be long and the neighbours will raise the alarm
Don't go yelling at us and asking for a bit of respect
Only thing you've shown us in weeks, lots of neglect
Folks around here think you are evil, myself included
Think I should be a loving child, then you're deluded
If you don't wake up to yourself you'll end up in the gutter
No wonder I am embarrassed and my brother does stutter
At school we're the laughing stock, both bullied and teased
You, enjoying yourself without a worry, hope you are pleased
I am here telling my hurtful story for what it's worth
Afraid the only mother I respect, is dear Mother Earth
Nearly every night you are in bed with another lover
How could you possibly call yourself, a loving mother?

Hello Poeta...
Welcome to Cosmo!
We don't always understand that some Mothers aren't perfect...
We don't take the time to understand but, we sure can judge and say how terrible she is...
Mothers need to be perfect...
Only ones in the World who better do everything right or else they'll be consequences to pay...
If there were absolutely no good times, nothing at all sometimes, we need to see a pattern somewhere...
My Mother didn't want me and she made sure I understood I was an accident...
I understood it took two...
Great sad write!
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs...

So glad you enjoyed my poem
This poem is amazing it's sure to move people, it moved me. I can relate but it's more my father than my mother and though it would be normal to have complete and udder disrespect for him I can't help but love him he is my father after all. Let's hope they both realize the hurt they're causing, as for you keep writing poetry, comfort the disturbed, and disturb the comfortable.
It seems you enjoyed my poem, and for that I am pleased. It was designed to have people sit ip and take notice Unfortunately it happens far to much in our world. Thank you for reading and commenting. The comments are much appreciated
Poeta this was very real and will relate to a lot of people. You obviously have raised above your challenges with your gift to write. We all have a story and I too applaud your writing. Well done and congrats!!
