Chasing life

Beep beep, beep beepÂ
And so it begins
Rise and shine, fluff up my wingsÂ
Â
A stroll to the shower, to wake me up
Then running late leaving half a cup
Busy roads stuck in a jam
A look at the time, there will be an angry manÂ
“You’re late, your late”
“I know,I know”
“It wasn’t my fault”
Wish I could get up and go
Watching it load, another day at the screen
Phones ringing, bad manners, I just want to scream
“A jobs a job”  they say. I’m luckier than mostÂ
But is this really it, I dream of the coastÂ
work should revolve around life
Not the other way round
I know we need it for food and bills
And to have two feet firmly on the ground
Is this it I’m so boredÂ
I feel no freedom
Just a robot bought
Ongoing work for little payÂ
Bills bills bills
Staring at a black screen everydayÂ
Just a number, in a big mans pocket
Full control over my being, I feel like a docketÂ
I want to enjoy the world and feel the earth
I want to be more just a numberÂ
I want to know my worthÂ
Please don’t think I’m being ungrateful
I’m aware I’m lucky than most
So for now I’ll shake the stresses away and still dream of that coastÂ

nicely written Linda keep writingÂ
Thank you for writing and sharing your well written and beautifully presented poem I enjoyed reading it and love that image you have put in a reader's mind portraying the coast, your almost elusive, tantalising just out of reach Shangri-La escape.
I wish you well.
Wow thankyou so much for your beautiful words, you have made my day thankyou xxx
