Common People

Common People

Who wants to slide on daggers, as you guide the very hand,
Why is it you receive instructions, from a far away land,
What did you really accomplish, when they shot you in the head,
Did you go to the promised land, now that you are dead.

Did you receive the spoils and trophies, set down in that book,
Did you see all the innocents, did you witness their last look,
Will those eyes burn in your mind, when it's hell that you go to,
Does this make you a firm believer, did he tell you what to do.

There are words for these actions, when you're a minority in this world,
What did you think would happen, when this timeline finally unfurled,
Your name will fade in history, to an uprising against the odds,
Will this make us change our minds, the worship of our gods.

Take a minute to realise, when you choose your desired missile,
When you act in a certain way, your actions now become hostile,
I do not understand at all, the nature of which you are thinking,
Another sacrifice made for him, your overall numbers are shrinking.

Armies fight together, combined to achieve a common goal,
What these people are doing, makes no sense to me at all,
You won't get far with your life cut short, as you face an unbeatable foe,
We are the common people, and there is no lengths we that won't go.
