Complexity

He happened upon complexity
One day when time was young
He tripped over simple-ness
When time was nearly done
What was once declared
To be an ogle or a gaze
Was now a full, bright stare
That walked closer – ‘cross the moat
To the wattle and the banksia –
Nature’s own – alike
An Epicurean side dish
As He fell – and rose again
And fed us all with bread and fish
The darling bloom at Peter’s Gate
Oh, happiness would surely wish
To be beside the fancy dress
And come to pray
And hope and bless
The ones departed – now to stay
Delight in laughter ‘hind His Gate
But hurry, scamper, run at speed –
One’s locked out
When one deludes his fate
