Crystal Snowflakes

Crystal Snowflakes

Crystal snowflakes flutter in the night’s sky
Falling softly; each is the heart of snow.
They sparkle off shining light to my eye
Contributing to the soft winter’s glow.

The tiny touch of the flake on my tongue,
Water droplets from the flake melt away,
Cold breezes from the wind pass one by one,
With the snowflakes dancing in a ballet.

The crystals in the sky aren’t hard to miss,
Even as they travel with Santa’s sleigh.
They settle on one’s cheeks to give a kiss;
These snowflakes in winter are here each day.

In blizzards the flakes bear down without fear
Aghast the world hides in this time of year
