Poem -

Death Waits

The air chills around you,
Death's grasp trying to grab hold.
Are you going to go?
Was your soul already sold?

You try to be strong,
but I can see you breaking down.
Still trying to hold on.
Going down with a fight.
But you are looking weaker every day,
even without the hospital gown.

We are all here for you,
but I don't want you to go.
You've been here for everything,
please say this isn't so.

I know you are in pain,
you are not suffering alone.
I will be here by your bedside.
Today.
Tomorrow.
Every day after.
I love you too much,
but that is already known.

If you must go,
I will understand.
We will be together again one day,
just in another land.

Though it breaks my heart,
Let the darkness take you away.
Meet Death with pride.
Goodbye.
I love you.
You do not have to stay.
