Poem - 14 April 2020, 03:43

Desolate

Through the torment of heartbreak, its relenting grip wouldn't release
It had bound her emotional state from freeing herself from him
He had walked away, disregarded her after his seduction had won her over
and where charm had succeeded, having her had cured his want
He had left her an ongoing curse of disbelief as innocence was taken
As her tears ran rampant, the feeling of emptiness consumed her
Her love for him had been overshadowed by lies, deceit had finally won
His charm had brought a forecast of rugged, cold had replaced the warmth
and in giving herself to him something new had found its claim which left her
desolate.

My Goodness SUSAN!!......you can really feel the pain of abandonment in these most poetically delivered lines ~

~ "Cold had replaced the warmth
And in giving herself to him
Something new had found its claim
Which left her ~ Desolate.."

There's something haunting about the tone that your phrasing creates in this piece.....It REALLY packs a punch....at least it did for me....Man Oh Man!!.....Relationships are such food for the soul.....and the heart of pain and happiness alike!!.......ALL STARS!!......great stuff dear poet sister!!....LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xo : )
