The Dimming Light
I am fading in my eyes, I can hardly walk, I do not have an appetite
My hands are crippling, my feet are the same, as I sit reading, a story
It is only the dimming light, which I find amusing, the words are blurred
Doubled up, making little sense, though the birds outside my window
I can hear them chirping, singing as they play, I find this my entertainment these days
As these four walls are enclosing on me, my bed, is always just an arms length away
As my wheelchair, moves by remote, I can get to the bathroom in a very short time
If I make it, I can always call on someone, there are nurses in every hall, I could pull this cord one more time
The dimming light around me, keeps getting less, but as long as I have my sparrow friends
I will keep on trying til my dying day, and then I shall close my eyelids, in the light no more, I shall fall to sleep, as I pray

All the best to you !
Hello Nancy...
Your words have taken back to a time where the cord was my friend...
I would always pray before I fell asleep and again in the morning light and...
A light I didn't know how many I would wake up to...
Thank you for sharing...
God Bless!
Merry Christmas Nancy...
