Dogwood

Pinned to a dogwood tree
Suffered so a malady
Borne of ignorant sod
King of kings, son of God
Pivotal pinnacles adorn
Nucleus crown of thorn
To convey sanctified loss
Contours of rugged cross
Pristine blossoms white
Pure petals tetrad alight
An apex of crimson red
Pierced divine bloodshed
A father's grief enlisted
Boughs gravely twisted
Ne'er again use for malice
A hardwood most callous
