Dreams don’t come true

On a chariot of fire
She rode in like the wind
With a face of an angel
That would cause any man to sin
And my heart she stole
Right from my bleeding chest
And through the wounds, she took my love
because she deserves nothing but the best
A treasure I now held in my hands
That promised me she would stay
The princess I had now, finally at last
And she would never go away
The long wait was over
The tunnel of love was sealed
Yesterday love was a fantasy
But today it was real
But through the stormy weather
She told lies I failed to see
My princes had found a prince
And she loved him more than me
Yet I couldn't see the damage done
Through the dark storm, I was blind
Conceived by what I dreamed of
Love that was perfect in my mind
but my princess wasn’t true
she was not royalty
her tiara was made of steel
and it rusts too easily
the happiness that I have found
have now turned to sorrow
she just lends it to me
when I didn’t ask to borrow
it was never there in the first place
the rain was now falling down
and the tracks were now covered
and she was not to be found
Then one day, lightning struck me
My princes had left without a trace
My broken heart screamed out her name
While tears poured down my face
Now I'm crying on this wooden floor
Wishing then I knew
That fairy-tales are only make-believe
And dreams do not come true

Oh what a lovely poem! It is very sad, heartbreakingly so, but a really lovely poem nonetheless. The words in this are beautiful. The flow is just fantastic and the rhyming is not in your face. I am sorry that your perfect dream did not last..happy ever after rides on such a fragile dream. Unrequited love is the pits. It hurts like hell. There will be another princess out there for you...you just have to find her x
thank you very much
