Drinking From The Water

Drinking From The Water

I have lived for many years, where the waters run deep, I am proud

And my brothers have fought for lives, and the death of many, has been sad

Though I am proud of my heritage, I am proud of my life, because I have pride

Where the wind blows through the forest, it touches my face, and it kisses my lips

It has been a long journey, it has been a long trail, and I am faced now, with many trials

The trials of my soul, where I will give my heart, my mind, and my body, to my people

I am thirsty for the drink, I am thirsty for the water, where I was born, where I was raised

The rivers will tell the story, of the many shed, in glory, though we fell upon our knees

We sprinkled in the sand, in the earth of many layers, and we spoke to the spirits

Drinking from the water, it spoke to us, it led us to a better place, it led us to righteousness

Thanking the sky, thanking the moon, and thanking the sun, I am proud to be born

My Cherokee nation would be proud of our victory, and I shall lead us to the end

I shall lead us to the tomorrow, where we shall shed our clothes, we shall be naked

And we shall chant to the many, those that we have passed, I am dancing with the moon

I am drinking from the water, and now I lay my spear to the power
