Drowning In Sahara's Sun

Breathless is this dry land with its touch of desert sands,
a heated vast seduction, dust still falls from sacred hands.
As silk began to peel away the moisture from our skin,
the whispers of what came before began to settle in.
We'd found a cool oasis where the heat had quenched within,
mirage a distant shoreline where the Ocean settled in.
We wished away the sunset as it swept our open path,
God brought the change in quickly, cooled our paradise at last.
Chorus
We prayed the dark would drown away Sahara's desert sun,
its veil a mask to sweep away the ghosts we'd now become.
Just take the heat that shadows over what had been our past,
as sands of time still scatter in a showering aftermath.
An endless Sea of dry just never seemed to block it out,
because thirst will never quench in a forever desert drought.
Verse
A touch of essence dimmed the light to sooth what now lay bare,
the evidence that took us, its curse lingers in the air.
Dawn set to steal an overcast as secrets became undone,
by whispers of our journey, drowning in Sahara’s sun.
Chorus repeat
